Annie & Emmanuel’s Colourful Wedding at Hazlewood Castle, Leeds – As Captured Through My Lens

May 8, 2025

As a wedding photographer, I get to witness love stories in the most beautiful ways. But Annie & Emmanuel’s big day at Hazlewood Castle? That was a celebration on a whole new level. Set in the timeless charm of Hazlewood Castle here in Leeds, this Nigerian wedding was bursting with colours, culture, and the kind of joy that stays with you long after the last dance. From the first click of my camera that morning, I could tell, this was going to be special.

Colours, Culture & Unforgettable Vibes
Now, if you’ve ever been to a Nigerian wedding, you know: it’s not just an event, it’s a vibe.
The fusion of their Edo and Delta roots brought a richness to the day that I couldn’t stop photographing. Guests showed up in vibrant traditional attires, gele headwraps in bold golds and reds, embroidered agbadas, intricate lace, and beaded accessories that shimmered in the sunlight.

It turned Hazlewood Castle into a colourful cultural masterpiece. And when Annie & Emmanuel made their grand entrance at the reception?
DJ Holy (@DJHoly_uk) lit the place up. I’m telling you, the beats dropped, the naira notes started flying, and suddenly everyone was on their feet. From azonto to shaku shaku, it was pure, high-energy joy. I found myself grinning behind my camera while capturing dance move after dance move.

Everywhere I turned, there were smiles, laughter, and those little cultural moments that make our weddings so unique, aunties ululating with joy, uncles raising glasses, and friends spraying love (and cash) like confetti.

The Flavours That Brought Us Home
Let’s talk about the food. Because this wasn’t your typical wedding menu, this was a full-on Nigerian feast. The aroma of smoky jollof rice filled the air, paired with perfectly spiced peppered meats, sweet fried plantains, and rich stews that had guests going back for seconds (and thirds!).

Love at the Centre of It All
As the sun set and the castle lights began to glow, Annie & Emmanuel shared their last dance, a little slower this time, wrapped in each other’s arms while their loved ones circled around. I stood back for a moment, just watching before I clicked. That’s the shot I live for, when the noise fades and it’s just two people, deeply in love, starting forever.
Capturing their wedding wasn’t just about photos, it was about telling the story of their love, their culture, and their people.

Annie & Emmanuel, thank you for letting me be part of your incredible day. Your love, your joy, and your vibrant spirit made every frame a work of art.
